A realistic way to fund passenger rail projects introduced in the Michigan House yesterday by Rep. Wayne Schmidt.
This bill would provide up to $100 million dedicated to rail infrastructure projects from existing bonding authority.
This is important right now in order to demonstrate to the Federal Rail Administration that Michigan has the political support for our HSR grant applications and the match money to leverage our awards. It’s also important to provide some start up money for our commuter rail projects that are currently in development.
