Local Leaders And Public Talk Future Of SW Michigan Rail
After departing New Buffalo a couple weeks ago, the Michigan By Rail Forum arrived in the twin cities Wednesday night at Silver Beach Center. The forum is sponsored by the Michigan Environmental Council, an advocacy group pushing for better rail service in the state. Those attending were given maps to identify where they think new or better rail service should be. The Michigan Environmental Council’s Tim Fischer says the group is seeing trends in what people want:
The session attracted many local leaders and politicians, including Congressman Fred Upton, the mayors of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, county and township officials, and 79th state house candidates Mary Brown and Al Pscholka.
